North and Wrecks

The straits of Gubal have claimed many ships crossing the Gulf of Suez. Visit the famous wrecks at the reef of Abu Nuhas - Giannis D, Carnatic & Chrisoula K - the most famous shipwreck in the Red Sea - the Thistlegorm, and the Rosalie Moller off Gubal.

Sha'ab Ali is located on the north side of the Straits of Gubal in the Gulf of Suez. The Thistlegorm Wreck is located in this area and first gained fame when Jacques Cousteau wrote about it in his book on the Red Sea in the 1950s. The actual location since that time was a mystery until it was rediscovered by a group of divers in 1992.

The South - Wadi Gimahl
Elphinstone is known to be the most amazing wall dive in the south. The site offers soft corals, sponges, gorgonians, fan corals, abundant fish life, pelagics, schooling hammerheads and frequent sightings of oceanic white tip sharks. The east side in particular has some beautiful soft coral growth.

A massive number of reef species lends still more color to the already dazzling walls, with a ready supply of big solitary and schooling pelagics. One great hammerhead seems to be a permanent resident.

Itinerary:
Ras Ghalib - Sha’ab El Nabah - Elphinstone (Sha’ab Rhur) - Gota Marsa Alem - Ras Samadai (Dolphin House) - Sha’ab El Naekaeri - Sha’ab El Radir - Gota Wadi Gimahl - Erough Uli - Dahara Wadi Gimahl - Gezira Wadi Gimahl - Ras Ghalib.

The South - Sha’ab Maksour
This horseshoe-shaped reef lies in open water to the northeast of Ras Banas. The eastern side of the reef has a steeply sloping wall profile, giving way to a sandy slope scattered with coral heads and pinnacles toward the reef’s southeast corner. The southern pinnacles are especially rich, with a wide variety of coral types throughout. The varied hard coral composition of the heads and pinnacles acts as a base for some extremely nice soft coral growth, particularly dendronephthia.

Fish life here is excellent. Schooling fish of all types are seen in large numbers, while reef-dwellers, such as angelfish and butterflies, provide flashes of color. Cuttlefish and shrimps put in an appearance for the invertebrates, and bluespotted and blackspotted stingrays are common. Sharks of several types can also frequently be spotted here, and there are regular reports of dolphins along the reef or inside the lagoon.

Brothers Marine Park
The Brothers are a pair of tiny islands. Actually they are the exposed tips of two massive reef pillars that rise from the abyssal depths. They are the only significant reefs in the area, and as such act as a magnet for many pelagic and reef fishes. Washed as they are by the full force of open-sea currents, they support an incredible dense and diverse coral population, with an overwhelmingly profuse growth of soft coral on all sides.
Big Brother and Little Brother islands, 40 miles off the coast from El Queseir, offer wreck diving, wall diving and drift diving.

Itinerary:
Hurghada/Ras Ghalib - Abu Hashish - Sha’ab Abu Alama (Panorama Reef) - Sha’ab Abu Halhalla (Middle Reef) - El Akhawien (Little Brother) - El Akhawien (Big Brother) - Coral Garden - Erough Tubia (Seven Towers) - Gota Abu Ramada - Hurghada/Ras Ghalib.

Marine Park Special "Simply the best "1
Duration: 1 week
The Daedalus Reef is richly developed throughout, with good coral growth from the surface to the depths. Hard and soft coral species are both well represented. Fish life is as dense as you would expect on an isolated reef pinnacle, with the usual reef species complemented by large concentrations of schooling species, such as snapper, longnose unicornfish and a variety of surgeonfish.

Marine Park Special "Simply the best "2
Duration: 1 week
This trip includes a visit to Rocky Island. A tiny rock which offers the best of the Red Sea - wall and drift diving, an abundance of soft corals and a huge variety of fish life, including pelagics. The reef composition is generally stony, with fairly good coral cover. The upper 20m (65ft) is particularly dense, and the entire north reef wall is covered in soft corals, making it perhaps the best soft coral site on the island. Fish life is rich and varied, with a strong bias toward the schooling species. Reef fishes are also well represented. In particular, very large groupers and Napoleon wrasse are common. As in the rest of the island, sharks are always a tantalizing possibility.

Ras Ghalib - Daedalus Reef - Rocky Island - Zabargad - Sha’ab Sataiah - Ras Ghalib
